Happy New Year! From Clyde

It is almost a new year.  I had a good Christmas.  Foster family bought me some yummy bully sticks and treats. They did head out of town for the day, but I was a good boy and wasn't destructive at all.  I just ate my bones they left for me and chilled.
My foster family likes teaching me tricks.  I'm really good and fast at learning.  I learned to "talk" not too long ago.  Now if I can just get the hang of "quiet" when people knock--or make sounds that resemble knocking.  My foster family is working on that, too.  I'm getting better.
This new year, I would really love a forever family to call my own.  My foster family really likes me, but they want to find me a forever home too! I am really sweet, learn quickly when I'm indoors or in the back yard, love playing tug o war and enjoy being a couch potato as well. I am not destructive like some dogs can be, I am 100% housebroken--not an accident, even on day 1!

(Foster) home for the Holidays with Clyde

I am a lucky dog as I have a foster home where I can spend the holidays.  My foster family is fun, and is helping me with behavior and training and giving me a LOT of love, attention and fun.
I am still exploring outside. I don't seem to have been outside a lot.  I love watching leaves fall and one of my favorite things to be interested in is bees.  My foster mom has to watch me when I'm around them.
We go in the back yard and my foster mom is training me.  I know "heel" and am improving using the command and not getting distracted (by bees and leaves) when I'm outside.
Yesterday I had my 2nd bath since I came here.  My foster family laughed because I would turn around just when they needed to soap or rinse the other side of me.  I don't know why it was funny, I was being helpful! Like most dogs, I get really happy when I get my bath. I once again entertained my family by running down the hallway with my towel and shaking it all around.  A dog's got to have his fun!
I've been left home alone since humans have to do human things.  I don't destroy anything. I do love when I get bones and bullysticks, though! And the best is I don't only wag my tail when people come home...my whole booty shakes around because I'm so excited!

Clyde's week so far

Last Friday a nice family took me into their home. They say it is a "pit stop" where I will be until my forever home is found. They had another foster dog before me that found a forever home, so I'm sure there is someone out there for me.
My family learns more about me every day! A couple nights ago foster dad took me out for a walk. When we came back, the sprinklers were on, so I took it upon myself to put my entire face over one and started biting at the water! I got a bath in the bathtub the first day I was there. I jumped into the tub on my own, stood still the entire time, except for to shake once, jumped out and got dried off.
I really enjoy playing with toys. I destroy stuffies in no time flat, but my favorite toy is a rope with a ball attached so I can play tug o war. I also love things to chew on, but I'm a really good boy, and have never chewed anything other than my toys.
I know sit, high 5, come, lay down, crawl. I'm working on "stay" and improving my leash manners. My foster mom doesn't think I spent a lot of time outside before. I'm quite intrigued by things like leaves falling off trees and, yesterday, I tried to catch a bee! Some things I see on my walks make me bark, but I'm being trained on how to deal with them.
I got a bed donated to my foster family from one of their neighbors who unexpectedly lost their dog. Remember Sadie, the beagle who taught Trevor to go through the doggie door? It was her bed😢  I love to nap on it, but my favorite is being on the couch with my family. My foster sisters take turns each night with which bed I get to sleep in.

My name is Clyde

My name is Clyde, and I will be taking over Foster dogs with blogs for now. I'm about 3 years old and am a Labrador/boxer mix. I guess that makes me a boxador? I've spent several months in boarding. I'm sure you saw me on the Labrador and Friends Facebook page a lot. Well, a family that I've met a few times before who had Trevor were ready for a new foster dog, and they chose me!(Though, let's be honest, we dogs really choose you humans.)
They came to get me yesterday. I rode in the car really well, but at one point, a motorcycle came by! Have you seen those things? Or heard them? I just had to bark at it so they'd know my disapproval that they were on 2 wheels instead of 4!
I got to a house and was so excited. I ran up the stairs into the house. I was on a leash, and I went into every room in the house! My foster mom then showed me the doggie door. It only took me 3 times with help to figure it out. I'll go out when people tell me too and I've gone put on my own a few times. I haven't had a potty accident in the house.
My foster human sisters showed me some toys. I really like playing with them, but I did tear apart stuffie toys. They are getting me more durable toys tomorrow. I REALLY like playing ball!

Trevor signing off

I've been away for quite a while. My foster family got news that a forever home had been found for me. They were going on vacation before my new owner could take me, so another volunteer took me. I did great with her dog, and was a bit ornery and got into some coconut oil. The wonderful news is I found a forever home and am doing great! Thank you to Labradors and Friends for rescuing me and the 2 foster families who kept me while I was waiting for my forever home!

Trevor's Halloween

This past weekend I mainly just laid around the house and did the usual. Humans woke up, came downstairs, gave me love, ate breakfast, went on walks. The usual.

Monday, which to humans is called Halloween, I had a GREAT day! It started off normal, but then at about 1pm my humans put me in the car. We went to a park where the girls have a bunch of friends. I got to run around the park and sniff trees and things. I mostly laid by my foster mom's side, but it was relaxing and a beautiful day. The kids did something called a scavenger hunt.  They just ran around places looking for things. Then they loaded me back up in the car and took me to my foster grandma's house in Huntington Beach. I'm not sure if you know about Huntington Beach, but there are a LOT of dogs there.  Anyway, the girls dressed up for this thing called Halloween.  One was a witch. She had on spiderweb leggings, an orange and black dress with feathers and a hat. The other one was a Tootsie Roll.  She got lots of compliments on her costume. 

We went out trick or treating and I had so much fun! I would wait with foster mom, dad and grandpa for the girls to go to the doors.  I wouldn't get up and start walking again until both girls were accounted for in my doggie mind.  The people at the houses would pet me and give the girls candy. One house even gave me a bag of beggin' strips! I didn't even have to say "Trick or Treat"! We walked and did this until about 9pm. Along the way I met other dogs and lots of people. The kids I met liked to pet me.

It was a fun, but exhausting day. The next day I slept a LOT!

What my foster mom says about me....

I have been with my foster family for almost 3 weeks now. I think my family likes me a lot. Every morning when my family members come downstairs my tail goes into wind up toy mode. My mom and I have a ritual in the morning. She sits on the couch and I put my paws up on it and she gives me lots of hugs. In turn, I give millions of kisses. My favorite is the ear rubs I get. I get really excited for my love time. I grunt and make whining noises the whole time. My family thinks it is very cute when I do this. My foster mom loves when I nuzzle my snout into her and how I have a spot on my neck that makes my leg kick.
At first, I'd follow the humans EVERYWHERE. If a human was moving about, I'd get up and follow. Now I'm settling in more, so I don't feel the need to do this as often. I'm very obedient and come when called(I'm finally learning my name) and stay when I'm told to.
I ride really well in the car and have perfected the art of jumping into and out of the SUV. My foster sisters complain that I sit right behind their ears and breathe in them.  It isn't my fault they roll their windows down! I'm just trying to sniff the fresh air!
I really enjoy my walks. One of my foster sisters likes to run with me a little bit, and I seem to enjoy that, though I cannot keep up the pace.  I think of myself as a "sprinter". I also like playing with my humans-chasing them when they are running in the back yard.
My foster mom tells me I'm a "simple dog." I guess that means that  am easy to care for.  I really just need love and attention from my humans, walks, food and water. She thinks there are a lot of families who would love me. I'm an easy going guy who likes to hang out.
